Tower 51 Folding Camera (1955) |
Self-erecting bed camera, with viewfinder, which uses either type 620 or 120 roll films. Simple pre-set lens aperture and synchronized shutter. It has a flash hot-shoe and tripod socket. This camera is basically the same as the USC Rollex made in 1950. Tower was a Sears Roebuck & Co. brand of cameras that many other companies produced for them. Collector's value: $15-$25. The Conley Camera Company made many earlier cameras for Sears Roebuck & Co. Most were supplied after the turn-of-the-century (1900) and at some point Sears bought Conley and produced them for themselves and others under such names as: Delmar, Marvel, Marvel-flex, Perfection, and Seroco (an abbreviation for Sears Roebuck & Co.). Sears also had many other companies produce cameras for them (such as Tower) over the years. They included: Olympus, Asahi Camera Co., Mamiya, Bilora, Nicca Camera Co., Braun, Yamato Koki Kogyo, Fuji, Herbert George Co., lloca, Balda, Tougo-do and Imperial Camera Corp. |
